Therapy in California
You’ve been feeling it for awhile: bleak, hopeless, exhausted and burnt-out. You want to break out of old roles you feel were thrust upon you, or a box that no longer fits.
You know there’s another part of yourself— a powerful part that you’ve lost touch with— but you struggle to hear that tiny voice inside. “Who am I? What do I really want? Why do I feel so disconnected from my feelings and my authentic self?” You feel alienated from yourself, your dreams, your own power. Your body might even feel alien to you, like your mind is a helium balloon, trailing the string of your body.
You are ready for a real change
You’ve probably read a hundred self-help books, purchased a gym membership that you never used, and tried meditation or yoga here and there. You go through the motions of “self-care” but rarely feel contentment or that you’re living up to your potential. You aren’t sure exactly what you need, if you need a guru, a counselor, a coach, or a psychiatrist. But, you know you need something— a little help, a safe landing space, or a little push— and you are tired of waiting to fully enjoy your life.
My name is Pearce. I’m a licensed therapist providing telehealth therapy for the state of California and internationally. And I can help.
L.S. Pearce, Licensed Therapist offering psychotherapy in California
I am a therapist offering therapy in California and internationally, who has been helping people better understand themselves, move through blockages to uncover their unique brilliance, and feel the way they want to feel for most of my adult life. I’m not a passive participant in therapy, nodding along while you fill the space with words, but an active collaborator in helping you to understand your own emotions and patterns, supporting you in uncovering what you need to heal and what you actually want for the direction of your life. This is a safe space to bring ALL of you— your weirdness, creativity, neurodivergence, queerness, politics, or “alternative lifestyle”… a place to not only be seen, but celebrated!

You don’t have to go it alone: sometimes strength means asking for support.
“Pull yourself up by your bootstraps!”
We’ve all heard the saying, and many of us have tried to live by it. The funny thing is that this saying originated in the 1800’s as an example of an impossible task— pulling oneself over a fence by one’s boots. It was appropriated as something we should strive for, as if by working alone, we should all be able to achieve the impossible.
What about “Two heads are better than one”? Your inner perfectionist might tell you that you’re a failure if you can’t complete an impossible task alone, but the truth is that human beings are better together. It can be scary to reach out for help, but it may prove to be the best decision you’ve ever made! Schedule a consultation, and we’ll spend 15 minutes on the phone deciding whether we’re a good fit. If I’m not the right therapist for you, I’ll do my best to refer you to the right one.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Counseling is usually short term and meant to address a specific issue in day-to-day life, such as a career change or grief.
Therapy is usually a longer term and more in-depth process of exploring the roots of mental illness, deep seated emotional issues, and behavioral patterns.
-
Counseling can work great for the short-term resolution of a specific problem. Therapy is meant to go deeper for the resolution of all the problems.
As an example: counseling may help you to move on after a romantic relationship has ended. Therapy will help you understand why your romantic relationships fail, how you keep ending up with the same type of person, what blocks you from safe and healthy intimacy, and how to build and maintain healthy relationships moving forward.

I work exclusively through HIPAA-compliant telehealth to provide online therapy. I’ve found this works best for both me and my clients, as I work with people from all over California and sometimes other countries, so I’m less limited by proximity. This is also more convenient for clients, who won’t need to drive across town in traffic and find parking; plus you can have therapy in your pajamas if you wish!
